Donald "Bob"
Tilley
December 28, 1940 – June 7, 2026
A loving father and husband, Don (also referred to as Bob) was born Donald Robert Tilley in Highland Park Michigan. He attended grade school and high school in Peoria, IL and served in the United States Navy 1959-63 on the Frankie Evans Destroyer. He retired from Caterpillar in 2003 where he was known as a master negotiator and traveled extensively to other parts of the world as a commodities manager. Don was a licensed commercial, instrument, and multi-engine pilot and a certified NRA instructor. Besides a phenomenal memory for limericks, he knew the year and make of every domestic and foreign car on the road. He loved history and could recall historic facts and figures that made him the envy of any jeopardy game opponent. After retirement Don and his wife Judy relocated to Venice Florida where they continued to enjoy their life of golf, theater, daily spirited gin rummy games, and an active social life with friends. He is survived by 3 children; Michael Tilley (Amy), Susan Schrupp (Michael), and David Tilley (Angie), former wife and mother of his children, Janice Dooley, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 1 stepson, Brian Peelle (Ingrid) and one step grandson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Able Voices. A celebration of life will be take place at a later time to be determined.
