Dora June Miller's Obituary

Dora June Miller, 74, of North Ft. Myers, FL passed away on March 28, 2019 at Hope Hospice, Cape Coral, FL. She was born on June 6, 1944 in Wolf Lake, Indiana to the late Robert E. and Margaret Miller. Her family moved to Fort Myers when she was two years old. Dora was the third of five daughters. Family and friends were very important to Dora; she treasured them all.

After graduating from Fort Myers Senior High School in 1962, Dora moved to Washington, DC and began working for Bellcom Incorporated, a subsidiary of the Bell System. Later she moved to Greensboro, NC to continue her 35-year career with AT&T. After retiring, she decided to move back to her hometown to be near family, and ended up moving into the Sabal Springs community in North Fort Myers where she made many friends. Through the years, Dora has served in many capacities at Sabal Springs, most recently she organized Neighborhood Luncheons, and volunteered on the Entertainment and Arts & Craft committees. Dora has been active in the North Fort Myers Civic Association and has served on the board. Dora reunited with high school friends and served on the committee to organize the 50 th Reunion of the Fort Myers Senior High Class of '62. It was so successful, the Class of '62 continues to meet annually. She also volunteered at the Southwest Florida Community Foundation, Edison Festival of Light and many more. In addition, Dora was an avid butterfly gardener and shared her enthusiasm with friends and neighbors.

Dora is survived by her sister, Janet Vespia (husband Don); her niece, Stephanie Garrone (husband Tom); and her nephews, Ron Williams and David Lady. Dora was preceded in death by her father Robert E. Miller; her mother, Margaret Miller; and her sisters, Martha Jean Williams, Maryann Lady, and Ellie Miller. A Memorial Service will be held at the Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church, 19251 N. Tamiami Trail in North Fort Myers on Wednesday, April 10, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, you may wish to make a donation to Hope Hospice or the Southwest Florida Community Foundation (239-274-5900) in Dora's name. Arrangements are in the care and trust of Baldwin Brothers Funeral and Cremation Society, Ft. Myers, FL.
