Doris Elaine Earnest, 86, of Port Orange, Florida passed away on January 22, 2017 at the Halifax Health Hospice Port Orange Care Center. She was born on August 23, 1930 in Gettysburg, South Dakota to the late Hollis Emerson Meeks and Clara Meeks. Doris worked as a Hairdresser and she loved children and dogs. She enjoyed babysitting, bowling, sewing, and ceramics. Doris is survived by her son, Kevin Lee Earnest and his wife Linda of Port Orange, Florida; her daughter, Karen Louise Ruberti and her husband John of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; her grandson, Nathan Burhans and his wife Michelle of Daytona Beach, Florida; her granddaughter, Kendra Herrin and her husband Josh of South Daytona, Florida; her great-granddaughters Addison and Savannah Burhans and Audrey Herrin; her brother, Norman Meeks and his wife Thelma of Forreston, Illinois; and Annie, her beloved companion/dog. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Earnest and her sister, Jeanette Phillips and her husband Orlin.
