Doris Stitt Obituary
On December 26, 2023, in the company of family members Gregg and Janice Edwards, Doris Stitt passed on in peace and comfort at Cates House Hospice of Ocala, Florida. She left to reunite with her parents Dawson Grason and Anna (Bevington) Grason, her brother Harold Grason, and her husband Wray Stitt, all of whom have gone before her.
Born, Doris Evelyn Grason, on March 29, 1923, in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, she lived a wonderful 100 years and was a blessing to her family, friends, and acquaintances. Although her contemporaries have passed on, the numerous birthday wishes and Christmas greetings that continue to arrive through the mail each year are a testament to the number of lives she touched.
Doris and Wray, husband of fifty-three years, lived on Dutch Ridge Road in Beaver, Pennsylvania. She spent her time as a devoted wife, skilled homemaker, avid gardener, meals-on-wheels volunteer, and faithful member of the First Christian Church of Beaver for more than eighty years. Her particular joys were performing water aerobics and playing water volleyball with many good friends at the Beaver YMCA where her nickname into her 90s was "Dangerous Doris".
Doris' last years were spent in the care of her niece Janice in Ocala, Florida where she lived the "easy life" with warm weather, sunshine, good food, and the "prettiest clouds" she had ever seen. She often recalled happy memories of her church family members, her YMCA buddies, and Bob Nicol and family, along with many others.
Missing her greatly will be nephew Gail Grason, niece Janice Edwards and husband Gregg of Ocala, Florida, grand niece Kerri Pocock of Tampa, Florida, and grand niece Charissa Sumerlin of Nashville, Tennessee.
A private family service will be conducted in Ocala, Florida. Interment is planned at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park in Rochester, Pennsylvania during early summer. A tribute wall can be found at baldwincremation.com for pictures and messages.
