Dorothy Jeanne (Grimler) Bretz, age 91, entered into the presence of the Lord on July 30, 2025. She was a patient at Bayview Center, Eustis, and was also cared for by Compassionate Care Hospice.

Born on June 8, 1934, in Erie, PA to parents, Merle and Dorothy (Higby) Grimler. Jeanne was the oldest of four siblings with one brother, James, and two sisters, Carolyn and Marilyn.

Jeanne graduated from Academy High School in 1952. When she met James Bretz at church, she knew she had met the person with whom she would marry and build a home and family. They married in 1953 and together, they maintained a loving and supportive marriage of 68 years up until Jim's passing in 2021. While Jim served in the Navy and worked for General Electric, they made their home in many places from California, Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and retiring in Florida. Together they were church leaders, helped establish several Christian and Missionary Alliance churches throughout the US and made several mission trips.

One of Jeanne's favorite talents was music. She loved to sing with her sisters at church and in the church choir. She often had Christian music playing while she quietly tapped her foot, clapped her hands and hummed. She had rhythm!

Jeanne was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was a devoted Christian. She lived a long life full of wonderful experiences as well as having a loving family, many good friends and compassionate caregivers. She is survived by her children, Judith (Mal) Hilliard, Clermont, FL, Jeffery (Linda) Bretz, Erie, PA, and Jonathan (Cathy) Bretz, The Villages, FL. She will be reunited with her one true love, her husband, James A. Bretz, Sr., son James Bretz, Jr., sister Carolyn and parents, Merle and Dorothy Grimler, in Heaven. Also surviving grandchildren, Derrick Bolton, Heather Suber, Craig Bolton, Aja (Bretz) Nelson, Donnie Bretz, Matt Bretz, Paige Hicks, Jennifer King, Joseph King, Jessica King, Jeremy King and a lot of great grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.

A Memorial reception of her life will be held at the church where she was a member, the Leesburg Alliance Church, 218 S. 14th Street, Leesburg, Florida 34748, on August 16, 2025, at 10:30 AM.
