Dorothy Lee Hansen (née Diestelkamp), affectionately known as Dottie, passed away on June 15, 2024. Born on November 16, 1935, in St. Louis, MO.

Dottie was married to M. Gregory Hansen for 55 years until his passing in 2010. Together, they raised four children: Jeanine, Chris, Eric, and Michael.

A dedicated homemaker for 29 years, Dottie later pursued higher education, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from MWSU in St. Joseph, MO, at the age of 48. She retired from a rewarding career in Human Resources with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Portland, ME.

Dottie was passionate about playing bridge, crocheting, knitting, and singing in the church choir. She had a great sense of humor, was loving to friends and neighbors, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and extended family. Dottie was an active member of her church community.

Preceded in death by her husband M. Gregory Hansen, son Eric Hansen, parents William Henry Diestelkamp and Martha Irene Diestelkamp, brother Edward Diestelkamp, and sister Mary Petty.  She is survived by her children: Jeanine Hansen, Chris Hansen (Linda), and Michael Hansen, and her grandchildren: Megan McCormick, Lisa Schick, Brent Outersky, Andrew Hansen, Benjamin Hansen, Samantha Hayes, Brandon Hansen, and Kaleb Hansen. Dottie was also blessed with 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A service to celebrate Dottie's life will be held at a later date, in Missouri.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association ( http://act.alz.org/goto/Dorothy_Hansen ).
