Dorothy Mae Herbertson was the youngest of six siblings, all others preceding her in death, born to Caroline Elizabeth "Carrie" (Rohrbach) & Henry Aaron Mutti of California, Missouri on May 12, 1922. She first attended the University of Missouri at Columbia and then pursued nursing at Jewish (Barnes) Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She enlisted in the Army Nurse Corps in December 1943 during WWII and was then assigned to duty as a second lieutenant at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver, Colorado.
She married Cecil James Herbertson and had one child, June, who survives her. Dorothy later attended the University of Colorado earning subsequent degrees in nursing and psychology. She then practiced as a child psychologist in Thornton Colorado public schools. Upon her retirement, she volunteered in an elementary school literacy program as well as continuing her interests in traveling, bridge, golf, and skiing with the Over the Hill Gang. After 75 years of residency in Colorado, she moved to Fort Myers, FL in October of 2018 to be with her daughter.
Dorothy will be interred in the family plot at the Rohrbach Cemetery in California, Missouri. Please direct any charity or donations to The Salvation Army which she explained, "always helped soldiers."
