IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Joan
Myers
April 24, 1950 – March 24, 2025
Dorothy Joan (Bradshaw) Myers, affectionately known as Dot, 74, of The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully at the Trinity Springs memory care facility on March 24, 2025 after a multi-year battle with primary progressive aphasia (PPA).
Dot spent over 20 years as a dedicated and caring school teacher primarily in Athol, MA, spending most of her career encouraging and guiding preschool-aged children with special needs. Dot received her undergraduate degree from Washburn University in Topeka, KS and Master's in early childhood education from Fitchburg State College in Fitchburg, MA. The youngest of three, Dot was born on Staten Island, NY, on April 24, 1950, to Nan (van der Bunt) and J. Alfred Bradshaw. Dot was an avid tennis player, enjoyed exploring new places by taking daily walks (especially on the beaches of Sanibel Island, FL), and had a passion for puzzle games such as Wordle and sudoku.
Dot will be remembered for her kindness, positive attitude, and her love for her family and friends. Her warmth and acceptance were gifts to everyone who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Dot was predeceased by her brother Walter Bradshaw.
Dot is survived by her husband of 53 years, Roger Myers of The Villages, FL; children Karolyn Myers of Aptos, CA and Scott Myers (Amanda) of San Jose, CA; two grandchildren, Clara and Louie Myers; and sister Trudy Berardi (Frank) of Lincolnton, NC.
In remembrance of Dot, a long-time breast cancer survivor, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society and the National Aphasia Association, supporting a condition she faced.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life at Laurel Manor Regional Recreation Center, The Villages, FL on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm.
