IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Douglas
Anderson
June 9, 1932 – June 24, 2023
Douglas C. Anderson of Estero, FL died peacefully at home on June 24, 2023 at the age of 91.
As a child, Doug started performing duets with his sister, Ramona in Minneapolis Peavey Park. This began his life long passion for making people laugh as a master entertainer, creator, director, actor, singer, set designer and toymaker. While in Minnesota, Doug worked with The Intolerables, SHOWTIME, New Fogey Follies, Richfield Silver Notes and The Plymouth Rockers. Also, he created original shows including "Magic in The Music" and "A Little Off Center". In 2008, he embraced his role as Senior Commodore for the Minneapolis Aquatennial. During the last 15 years of his life, Doug resided in southwest Florida where he performed with and also directed the Bonita Springs Village Band and Chorus. One of his greatest joys in life was making people smile.
Doug was born in Minneapolis, MN in 1932. He graduated from St. Thomas Military Academy in 1951. After a stint in the Air Force, Doug returned and obtained his Bachelor's Degree from the University of MN. His teaching career was with the Minneapolis Public Schools, ending in Special Education. While teaching, he acquired his Master's Degree from the U of MN and his Certificate of Advanced Education Specialization from Boston College.
Left to "Remember The Good Times" are his cherished wife, Gail Anderson; sister Pat Rudolph; children Sue Crook (Scott), Linda Johnson, Laura Orcutt (Gary); daughter-in-law Stephanie Anderson; nine grandchildren, one great grandson and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by son, Dennis Anderson, sister Ramona Schlink and parents Clarence and Anna Anderson.
Honoring Doug's commitment to education and entertainment, donations may be made to WGCU (WGCU.org), Southwest Florida's source for PBS and NPR.
