Douglas Lee Fairfax, 85, of Hertford, North Carolina and Fort Myers, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. Doug's wife of 34 years, Kathy Godfrey Fairfax, was at his side along with their Golden Retriever, Boo Boo.

Doug was born in North Braddock, Pennsylvania to the late Walter Fairfax and Ruth Hicks Fairfax. Doug was in the 1958 graduating class at North Huntingdon High School in Irwin, PA. He attended Thiel College in Greenville, PA, where he was a member of the Alpha Chi Rho, AXP fraternity and has maintained many of those friendships throughout his life. He later went on to obtain his Masters in Healthcare Administration from the Medical College of Virginia. Doug was a well-known hospital CEO on the east coast. He held positions in Cambridge, MD, Leominster and Boston, MA, Charleston, SC and Elizabeth City, NC. He finished his career doing international healthcare consulting in Tanzania, Russia, Bulgaria, and Kuwait.

Doug and his wife, Kathy, loved to travel. He would often say they ate their way through each country they visited. He was also an avid gardener and spent most of his retirement in his beautiful yards in North Carolina and Florida.

Doug leaves behind his wife, Kathy Godfrey Fairfax, his sons, Todd Fairfax (Amy), and Mont Fairfax of Charleston, SC, his stepson Everett Meads (Cassandra) of Fort Myers, FL and his sister, Tana Wilkinson of Houston, TX. He also leaves behind his three grandsons, Jake, Alec and Cam Fairfax and his granddaughter, Everly Meads.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to Thiel College, Greenville, PA or Hope Hospice of Fort Myers, FL.
