Douglas Lauer of the Villages, FL passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on January 6, 2021 from complications related to the COVID-19 virus.

Doug was born August 26, 1942 in Chicago Heights, Il to Curtis and Norma Lauer. He graduated from Crete Monee High School in 1960. He retired from Chicago Heights Steel in 2004. His hobbies included woodworking, golf, and handyman repairs. He bought and renovated several homes during his life. He was happiest with a hammer or a golf club in his hand. He loved to be busy.

Doug is survived by his loving wife Sandra of 56 years and their two children, Timothy Lauer of the Villages, FL and Tracy Lauer of Los Angeles, Ca.

We were blessed to have five grandchildren Bradley, Brianna and Brooke and two grandchildren deceased, Courtney and Brett.

Doug has a sister Beverly Wassmann who resides in Illinois.

Doug and Sandra loved to travel and experience many wonderful adventures with their family and friends. They ultimately found their happy place in the Villages in 2006.

Doug was a kind, loving gentle man who so enjoyed life, friends, and family. He will live forever in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held at a  later date.
