Douglas Edward Matson, 69, of Dunnellon, FL, passed away at home on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.  Douglas was born in Bethlehem, PA to Robert Earl Matson and Evelyn Emily (Butterworth) Matson.  He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Joyce Faye (Taylor) Matson of Dunnellon, 3 daughters; Genna E. Matson of Littleton, CO, Alina M. Vandawalker and husband Todd of Ormond Beach, FL, and Kristen K. Alphin of Hickory, NC, and grandchildren Everly and Lyra Vandawalker, and Keasey Lea Alphin.  Douglas was preceded in death by his parents (named above), his son John Franklin "Frankie" Alphin and his brother Robert E "Bobby" Matson, Jr.  Douglas worked as a service rep for Baumfolder Corp. starting in 1983.  Throughout the 1990's he owned and operated The Bindery in Hickory, NC.  He enjoyed camping, writing music, and teaching guitar lessons.  He built 15 guitars, Lucas Guitars, and also enjoyed building Harley Davidson Motorcycles. Douglas will be fondly remembered and a memorial celebration of life is being planned for the Spring of 2024.  Baldwin Brothers Funeral and Cremation Society is honored to assist with final arrangements.
