Douglas Charles Young, 75, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, after a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Born and raised in North Shores, LaSalle, Michigan, Doug graduated from Monroe High School in 1969. Forty-four years ago, he married the love of his life, Kathlee Anton Young. Throughout his career, Doug worked in marinas, real estate, and property management, always approaching life with determination and an entrepreneurial spirit.

Doug was larger than life—outgoing, adventurous, and able to make friends wherever he went. He had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued. A lifelong lover of boating and the water, he also enjoyed traveling, music, and creating memories with family and friends. Above all, he treasured time spent with those he loved, especially his grandchildren.

Douglas is proceded in death by his parents, Douglas Young and Virginia Timmerman, sister Kay Lynn Moore, brother in laws Anthony (Margaret) Anton and Jeffrey Anton. He is survived by his wife Kathlee Young, children Brandon (Lauren) Young, Taylor (Cameron) Gorski, grandchildren Brynn Young, Jackson Gorski, Sister Janelle (Patrick) Dodd, Sister in law Pamela (Kenneth) Gwozdz, brother in law Roger (Tamara) Anton and several beloved nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A private Celebration of Life will be held in Doug’s honor. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
