Obituary

Dr. Earl Ronald Reisenweaver, DDS, 90, passed away peacefully on August 16 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Summerfield, Florida. A devoted husband of 62 years, Earl was a proud father, beloved grandfather, and a highly respected dental professional for more than 30 years in the Pittsburgh and suburban Philadelphia areas.

Born on July 11,1936 on his family’s farm in Weston, PA, Earl graduated from Conyngham High School in 1954. He pursued his passion for higher education at Temple University and Penn State, graduating with his undergraduate degree in 1958. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the prestigious University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry in 1962. It was in Pittsburgh where Earl met Elizabeth in the blood bank at Magee Hospital and she soon became the center of his world. They married in Pittsburgh on January 11, 1964. Soon after, Earl and Elizabeth moved to Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, where Earl served as a Captain in the U.S. Army for four years.

Following his military service, Earl built a distinguished dental career back in Pennsylvania. He and his growing family lived in Southampton and Huntington Valley before moving to a historic farmstead in Telford. There, he continued practicing dentistry and opened and led a successful dental laboratory. He spent his final years of practice in Greensburg, retiring in 1991. At home, Earl used that same meticulous precision in his dental practice to work on a variety of projects around home. Following retirement, Earl traded his dental tools for the sunshine of Florida and moved to Sarasota. In 2009, he and Elizabeth relocated to Summerfield, where they built their next chapter together.

An avid sports fan his entire life, Earl loudly cheered on his beloved Pittsburgh Panthers and Steelers football teams and never missed a chance to listen to music by Frank Sinatra. Throughout retirement, he thoroughly enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, most notably his morning cup of coffee and the daily newspaper.

Earl recently celebrated his landmark 90th birthday surrounded by the love of his family. Holding a special place of honor in his lineage, Earl was the longest-living Reisenweaver, a title he wore proudly. Above all else, he cherished sharing his wisdom, stories, and wit with family and friends.

Earl is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth; his four children, Stacy (Rich) Braun, Scott (Sherelyn) Reisenweaver, Kevin (Renee) Reisenweaver, and Kate (Michael) Shelton; his six grandchildren, Cory (Brigid) Braun, Mark Reisenweaver, Nicholas Reisenweaver, Derek Reisenweaver, Emily (Logan) Shelton, and Carly Shelton; and his sisters, Helen Stephan and Kay (Bill) McHugh. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Reisenweaver (1969); his mother, Helen (1974); and his siblings, Jean, Ruth, Robert, William, Irene, and Roy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Earl’s honor to Folds of Honor or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
