Eddie D. Hancock, 77, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on September 22, 2026.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Tollie and Etta Bea Hancock, and his sister, Marlene Wilson. He is survived by his wife, Diana Hancock of Ocala, FL; his children, Drew Hancock (Joni) of Tampa, FL, Holly Stewart (Joshua) of Discovery Bay, CA, Tyler Thomas of Elkton, MD, and Tara Thomas of Loveland, OH; his sister, Sharon Wilson of Paducah, KY; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

He was born on January 22, 1949, in Madisonville, KY. He graduated from Murray State in Kentucky with a degree in Chemistry.

A US Army veteran, Ed had a long and accomplished career in the packaging industry. He served as President of Anderson Packaging from 1996-2001 and President of the AmerisourceBergen Packaging Group (ABPG) from 2001-2011. He was also active in the broader packaging industry and was one of the founding members of the Healthcare Compliance Packaging Council, serving for over 15 years on the Board of Directors, including 2 terms as Chairman.

Ed was a good and kind family man who was generous with his love, laughter and advice. He was a tireless advocate for the Alzheimer's Association , raising funds and awareness, volunteering with the Walk to End Alzheimer's in Ocala, and organizing the Ride for the Cure in Ocala. He constantly shared his experiences through articles and media interviews to promote Alzheimer's research and awareness. He also loved his tennis team group, mountain biking, and horseback trail riding in the woods.

A memorial service will be held at the Barnett Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville, KY at 11am on Saturday, November 7th, followed by burial at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Ed's memory.
