Edward C. Sullivan, went home to be with the Lord on February 18, with his wife by his side and just a month prior to his 90th birthday. He was born on March 22, 1936 to Edward and Veronica Sullivan in Philadelphia, PA. Ed had 1 brother, Joe who predeceased him.
Ed was a loving husband, dad, pop and pop-pop. He leaves behind his loving wife, Ronnie, their combined families, Christine and Mike, Cynthia and Dan, Nancy, John and Liz, and Eddie. Their grandchildren, AJ and Liz, Alyssa and Shea, Jason and Kaeley, Johnny, Kaity and Brian, Anne Marie, Daniel, Joey and Shakira, David, Ally and Danny, Cassandra, Jack and Regan . A total of 13 great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews and their families.
Ed graduated from Southeast Catholic High School, where he excelled on the swim team. He then joined the Army Signal Corps, spending most of his career in Tokyo, Japan processing all information between the States and the Far East. He was also responsible for the house radio of General Lyman I. Lemnitzer, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Far East. After his Honorable Discharge from the Army, he attended and graduated Villanova University thanks to the Korean GI Bill.
Before retirement he was a Procurement Officer in the Department of Defense, responsible for the solicitation, negotiation, award and management of multimillion dollar Research and Development contracts for Electronic Weapons Systems for the Army and Marine Corps.
During his lifetime, Ed belonged to various organizations. Including being an officer in the Knights of Columbus, B.P.O.E, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and Past Commander in the American Legion. He was also Facilitator and Leader of the Separated, Widowed and Divorced Group of his local Church. An officer of the Republican Club of Brick, NJ, and Commissioner of the Brick Township Housing Authority and Past President of the Villages Republican Club of Sumter County. Currently Republican Committeeman, 109th Precinct, Sumter County, FL.
Ed married the love of his life, Veronica (Ronnie). They have been married for 31+ years and renewed their wedding vows surrounded by family and friends at benchmark 25 Years. After living in Brick, NJ (where he enjoyed boating and living on the water), they moved to the Villages where he traded in his boat for a golf cart.
During his time in the Villages, Ed was honored to go on the Honor Flight with fellow veterans. We enjoyed traveling and loved Ireland and 2 journeys on the Rhine and the Danube.
We love him and will miss him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church on _???? followed by internment at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. A celebration of life will be celebrated at a later time.,
