Starts at 11:00 am (Eastern time)
Edward “Ed” C. Stapp Jr. of Mount Dora, Florida, passed away on March 6, 2026, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was 73.
Ed was born on April 12, 1952, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Eddie and Faye Stapp. He spent most of his childhood in Orlando, Florida, where he was the oldest of four children. To his family, he was affectionately known as “Buster.”
Ed married the love of his life, April, in 1973, and over their 53 years together, built a life centered on faith and family. Ed was a proud and loving father to his two sons, and a deeply cherished grandfather to his eight grandchildren, who knew him as “Pop Pop.”
Ed worked in insurance and healthcare finance. His work took his family across the country, including seasons in California and Colorado, but wherever he went, he was known as a steady provider and a man who worked hard for those he loved.
He found joy in skiing, playing, and watching sports, and especially in time spent with his family. Those who knew Ed will remember him as adventurous, fun, and quietly supportive, a man who loved life and enjoyed living it to the full. He had a gentle presence, a faithful heart, and a life that consistently pointed to what mattered most.
Ed’s favorite Bible verse was Joshua 1:9: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” He held onto the hope of this promise throughout his life, and his family shares it today.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Ed is survived by his beloved wife, April; his sons, Wes (Bonnie) and Aaron (Lindsay); his eight grandchildren, Coleman, Zach, Madison, Taylor, Emma, Wyatt, Brady, and Grayson; and his siblings, Lex, Tracy, and Leslie.
A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on April 24, 2026, at Evolve Church, 10564 2nd Avenue, Ocoee, Florida 34761.
