Kunc
June 6, 1944 – June 24, 2020
Ed Kunc passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 in Clermont, FL at the age of 76 years. Born in Tarentum, PA, he was the son of the late Mary and Paul Kunc and was preceded in death by his two sisters, MaryAnn and Teresa.
He spent 36 years as a math teacher for Shaler Township (Pittsburgh, PA), and ran a successful landscaping business employing students after school and during the summers. He and his wife, Donna, relocated to Summit Greens in Clermont, FL in 2003, where they became part owners of The Crooked Spoon Gastropub with their daughter Rebecca Saelg and her late husband, Steven. Ed was an active member of the Summit Greens community. He served as President of the tennis club, on various other boards, and regularly played cards with friends. His greatest joy was traveling anywhere he could with his wife and family.
Ed is survived by his loving wife Donna of 53 years; 3 children Douglas (Karen), Rebecca, and Donald (Christina); and grandchildren Haley, Jackson, Jacob, Julia, and Samuel.
He will be remembered as a faithful, hard-working, fun-loving, pillar of his community, patriarch of his family and a man who taught life lessons as well as math lessons.
Mass will be celebrated in his honor on Tuesday June 30, 2020 at 11:00am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (720 12 th St. Clermont, FL 34711).
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 10, 2020 at 11:00am at Elfinwild UP Church (3200 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, PA 15116). Due to Coronavirus restrictions, face coverings will be required, and seating is limited. If you plan to attend, please contact an immediate family member to ensure seating. The service will be live streamed, and hotel rooms are available – contact a family member for info.
There will be a reception following the Celebration of Life at the Latham shelter in North Park from 2:00-6:00pm. (303 Pearce Mill Rd, Allison Park PA).
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Ed's name to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network ( www.pancran.org ), The St. Jude Children's Hospital ( www.stjude.org ), or the American Heart Association ( www.heart.org ).
