Edward
Ploskonka
Feb 8, 1958 — Jul 12, 2023
Edward Ploskonka, 65, beloved husband to Melody of 42 years passed away peacefully July 12, 2023 with his loving family by his side.
He was born Feb. 8, 1958 in Chicago, IL to Stanley and Bertha ( ne'e Bousquet) Ploskonka. Ed worked in the family business selling Pepperidge Farm products until he moved to Fort Myers, Florida in 1991. He enjoyed working for the City of Sanibel and retired after 20 years of service. He would talk about the beautiful sunrises as he crossed the Sanibel bridge every morning.
He always had a laugh and when he visited his family they knew it would be a joyful and laugh filled time. He was a diehard Bears fan. He was extremely proud of his children and their accomplishments over the years. He was a rock to his family and took care of his grandchildren when needed. He loved spending time with them!
Ed never said no to a friends request for help in any way and spent many hours riding on his golf cart visiting neighbors.
Ed was a loving father to Alyssa ( Daniel), Kenny (Morgan); dear grandfather of Chloe, Aria, Kohen and Noah; brother to Stanley ( Nancy), Gail (Rob), and Lois (Steve); brother in law to Steve (Marilyn), Bruce (Debbie) and Angel (Tom); uncle to Dan, Kristin, Kimberly, Allison, Jeffrey, Nicole, Amber, Jake, Brooke, Sara, Zachary, and Ross.
He was extremely happy to find his dream log cabin home in the woods and spent his retirement years working on it. He would spend many hours there with friends and loved sitting on his porch watching the beautiful wildlife.
One of his friends stated " He was a great man through and through. Men like him are very rare. We were very lucky to be in his circle of friends."
As Ed would say " I did it my way….."
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Ed Ploskonka are suggested to The American Cancer Society. Celebration of Life will be held in October.
Baldwin Brothers, Fort Myers, FL is entrusted with final care.
