Obituary

Ed passed away from this life on June 24, 2012 after a gradual decline in his health. He was surrounded by his loving family and caregivers during his last days.   Ed was born in Buffalo, New York on July 14, 1934. He worked for Genesee Brewery Company for over 30 years servicing Key Accounts in Western New York. Ed was also an accomplished professional drummer and singer. His band, "The Pic-A-Polka Orchestra" appeared on the local NBC television station for five years and was one of the most popular local bands during the 60's and 70's. In 1996, after raising two boys, he and his wife Millie retired to New Smyrna Beach where he lived the remainder of his life.   He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Millie (Juda), his sons Edward Zak and partner Audrey Simmons, Daniel and Maxine (Krauze), along with his six grandchildren:  Rachel, Jonathan, Mitchell, Jaclyn, Gina, and Derek.  Ed is also survived by his sister Marcyann Zorker.  He was preceded in death by his sister Arlene (Henry) Raczka and his parents, Edward F. Zasowski, Sr. and Emilie (Tucholski) Zasowski.   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia 4140 South Ridgewood Avenue Edgewater FL 32141.   Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Friday, June 29 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church 4000 South Atlantic Avenue, New Smyrna Beach 32169.
