IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edwin Alden
Fine
September 23, 1933 – May 19, 2025
Edwin Alden Fine passed away peacefully at the age of 91 to be with his Heavenly Father, with his loving wife of 43 years, Judy Fine, and daughters Kim Fine Meyer and Nancy Williams by his side.
Born in Booneville, Missouri, Ed's life was defined by adventure, humor, strength, and deep devotion to family. From the heartland of Kansas to the deserts of Tucson, from courtroom halls to the Alaskan wilderness, Ed lived a remarkable life that reflected his independent spirit and unyielding love of the outdoors.
After early retirement from the U.S. Navy, Ed earned his economics degree from Louisiana State University and a law degree from Jones Law School. He practiced law for many years in Montgomery, Alabama and was involved in legal practice in Fort Myers, Florida, before embarking on a new chapter in retirement as a hunting and fishing guide in Kodiak, Alaska. Whether navigating the waters of the Florida Keys or tracking game in the Alaskan wild, Ed was in his element—sharing stories, cracking a joke, and enjoying the outdoors.
He was known for his quick wit, unmatched skill with rod and rifle, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved.
Ed was preceded in death by his beloved son, Edwin Fine; his sister, Etta Dean; his brother, James Fine; and his parents, Edwin and Hazel Fine.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Fine of Fort Myers, Florida; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Doug Meyer of Cape Coral, Florida; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Brian Williams of Sterling, Alaska; and daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Mike Haffeman of Kodiak, Alaska.
Ed was a proud and loving grandfather and great-grandfather. From his late son Edwin's family, he is survived by his grandchildren Cristi Lathen and her husband Steven of Green Valley, Arizona, along with their children Gary and Aubrey Hitchiner, and Layna and Rustin Lathen; Edwin Fine and his wife Kelly of Tucson, Arizona; and Jeff Fine and his wife Christina of Tucson, Arizona, along with their daughter Candice Fine.
From his daughter Kim's family, he is survived by his grandchildren Jessica Proudfit and her husband Charles of Cape Coral, Florida along with their children Gabriel and Cameron Proudfit, and Doug Meyer and his wife Brie of Orlando, Florida and their son Edwin Meyer.
From his daughter Nancy's family, he is survived by his grandchildren Rebecca and Robert Williams. From his daughter Melissa's family, he is survived by his grandchildren Alden and Sophia Haffeman.
He leaves behind not just a large and loving family, but a legacy of laughter, resilience, and a lifetime of stories that will live on in every morning spent beside the water.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Hope Hospice for their compassionate care and support in Ed's final days.
A private family remembrance will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Ed by spending a quiet morning by the water, casting a line, and telling a story in his name.
