Eileen C.
Savell
Oct 26, 1944 — Sep 26, 2026
Eileen C. Savell, 81, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with Scleroderma. Born on October 26, 1944, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, to Rodney and Hazel Lewallen, Eileen grew up with a deep love for the coast. A graduate of Pleasantville High School, she spent some of her happiest early years close to the beach and boardwalk, performing as a child dancer on Atlantic City's historic Steel Pier.
Eileen's inherent warmth eventually led to a career in caregiving. After graduating as a registered nurse from Miami University of Ohio, she dedicated herself to working with dementia patients, those suffering from psychological disorders, substance abuse and children with autism
She spent several years in Encinitas, CA where she enjoyed many sunny days at Moonlight Beach with her family. While in Encinitas, she was the perfect surf Mom, piling kids and surfboards into her Datsun 280z for rides down to the waves. Despite never actually surfing herself, she was fluent in California surf lingo, and a close rapport with many of her son's friends.
Her passion for others extended well into later years, where she taught classes for senior citizens relating to health, safety and geriatic concerns. She also worked as a parish nurse, later advancing to the position of Nurse Coordinator at AdventHealth. She also volunteered her time and efforts tirelessly to the Scleroderma Foundation to assist and comfort others with the disease she suffered from for over 20 years.
Her legacy of love lives on through her husband, Geary Hancock; her sister, Jean L. Schubert; and three sons she raised with her first husband, C. Thomas Savell: Thomas C. (Isabelita), Jeffery (Monica) and Joel (Billie[dec]). She also leaves behind four grandchildren who brought immense joy and pleasure to her life: Mason, Holly, Jessica and Summer.
