Obituary

Eleanor C. (Tartaglia) Masi, age 84, of The Villages, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026. Born on September 13, 1941, in Utica, New York, Eleanor was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Christina Tartaglia and one of ten children, carrying the love of her large family throughout her life.

She grew up in Utica, where she attended local schools and graduated from Proctor High School. Throughout her lifetime, Eleanor worked a variety of jobs, including positions with Associated Textile, Publix, and the Orlando International Airport.

Eleanor was predeceased by her fiancé, Frank Shaffer; her beloved dog, Cody, who brought her years of companionship and joy; her parents, Joseph and Mary Christina Tartaglia; and her nine siblings. She was also formerly married to Charles Lewis Sr., with whom she shared and lovingly raised her three sons.

She is survived by her children, Charles Lewis Jr. (Wendy), George Lewis, and Scott Lewis (Gina). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Kari, Alison, Ryan, Nicholas, Alissa, Tyler, and Mia, and was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren: Jianna, Sophia, Aubrey, Scarlett, Colton, Kaylin, Harper, Sarah and Karson. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Eleanor shared a special bond with her niece, Antoinette Zeina.

Eleanor will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her love of bingo, puzzles, baking, and cooking, and the happiness she found in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family meant everything to her. She never missed a birthday, anniversary, or special occasion, faithfully sending cards to family and friends that somehow almost always seemed to arrive exactly on time. It was one of the many thoughtful ways she made the people she loved feel remembered and special. Her warmth, laughter, and caring heart touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Ocala Oaks Rehab Center and HCA Ocala Hospital for the care, compassion and kindness shown to Eleanor during her time there.

Services will be held privately by the family.
