ELEANOR JEAN MCBRIDE, 84, of The Villages, Florida died peacefully Wednesday, July 2, 2025 surrounded by her family.

Eleanor was born May 30, 1941 to Cletus and Dorothy (Urbine) Junk in Ft Wayne, IN where she graduated from Central Catholic High School and attended the University of St Francis.

She was married to her husband Richard McBride for 63 years. In 1966 they moved to Hamden, CT, where Eleanor graduated from Quinnipiac University, and was employed as an auditor for the Department of Revenue Services for the State of Connecticut.

After retiring, she and her husband returned to Indiana and their home on Royer Lake, until moving to The Villages, FL in 2004.

Eleanor is survived by her loving husband and her four devoted daughters, Susan (James) DeLong of Hamden, CT, Laura (James) Andersen of The Villages, FL, Sarah (Fred) Gargano of East Haven, CT; and Kathleen McBride of Woodinville, WA; her grandsons Ryan and Nicholas Schloss of North Carolina; sisters Janet Peden and Nancy Murphy of Fort Wayne, IN; sister-in-law Sharon Junk of Avilla, IN; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Eleanor was pre-deceased by her parents Cletus and Dorothy Junk, a sister Patricia Kelly, brothers Donald and Gerald Junk, and brothers-in-law Larry Kelly, Michael Peden and Patrick Murphy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated At Saint Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Summerfield, FL, July 16, 2025 at 10 am with visitation one hour prior.

An interment service will be conducted at Divine Mercy Funeral Home in Ft Wayne with burial in the Catholic Cemetery at a date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eleanor's memory to a charity of your choice.
