Elena Louise Spears (née Colombani), age 94, passed away on October 2 at Advent Health Hospice in Altamonte Springs, Florida. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts, her parents having immigrated to this country from Northern Italy. As a young woman, she moved to Hollywood Beach, Florida and spent much of her life in the Miami and Orlando areas. She married William Spears of Miami in 1955, and raised two sons. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, she enjoyed working as a bookkeeper, volunteering at church, traveling and reading. She was preceded in death by her husband, William, after 60 years of marriage. Elena is survived by her two sons Mark (Andrea) Spears of St. Pete Beach, FL and Wayne (Scott Schulte) Spears of Wayzata, MN, and niece Diane Morgan Maxwell of Travelers Rest, SC. Donations in memory of Elena may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
