Elizabeth Christian Russell Fullerton, 87, of New Smyrna Beach died unexpectedly Sunday, September 13, 2009 at her home. Elizabeth was born September 3, 1922 in Jersey City, NJ. She enlisted in the United States Navy as a WAVE in 1943 where she met and married her husband, Donald, in 1946. She lived in the Washington, DC area until Donald's death in 1984. In 1985 she moved to Casselberry, FL. Elizabeth found happiness again when she met and married Walter Fullerton in 1987. They lived in Oviedo and had a beach home in New Smyrna Beach. Together they enjoyed traveling the world until his death in 1996. Elizabeth continued to travel and has been to Africa many times. Another passion of Elizabeth's was "clowning around." She was a Christian clown and enjoyed telling people about the love of Jesus through laughter. She was active in both St. Paul and Grace Episcopal Churches.
Elizabeth is survived by her two devoted children, Zola Cavanaugh of Casselberry and Tom Russell of Franklin, TN; their spouses Pat Cavanaugh and Anne Russell; her two cherished grandsons, Charles Whitmore of Boston, MA, and Thomas Russell of Rogers, AK; their spouses, Megan Whitmore and Stephanie Russell; and her cousin, Betsy Osborn of Winter Park. Elizabeth's faithful dog, Sassie, died on the same day as her.
In lieu of the flowers the family suggest donations be made to the Sunshine Corgi Rescue, 1515 Hanks Ave., Orlando 32814 or San Pedro Retreat Center, FLM Scholarship Fund, 2400 Dike Road, Winter Park 32792-8104.
