ELSIE LILLIAN SOTO

Elsie Lillian Soto, a devoted mother, beloved grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, at 2:17 pm in Room 2117 at AdventHealth Apopka, after a courageous battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) at the age of 76.

Born on January 29, 1949, in Moca, Puerto Rico, Lillian grew up surrounded by the love of her large family, including her two brothers, two sisters, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Raised with strong values of love and generosity, she carried these qualities into motherhood, always giving her time and heart to others.

After graduating from high school, Lillian pursued her passion for helping others and attended Antillean College, where she studied nursing. She began her career at Bella Vista Hospital, where she met and married Jorge Luis Pérez. Together, they built a life in Bella Vista, founding one of the first pizzerias in Mayagüez, PR. In 1976, they seized the opportunity to pursue the American dream, selling their business and moving to Altamonte Springs, FL.

Lillian's dedication to healthcare continued as she joined Florida Hospital Orlando (now AdventHealth), working in the Surgery Department before transitioning to Medical Records/Health Information Management, where she dedicated 45 years of service. Though she and Jorge eventually parted ways, Lillian remained steadfast in her faith and focused on raising her three children with unwavering faith, love, resilience, and guidance.

As a mother, Lillian instilled in her children the confidence to reach for their star, always surrounding them with love and support. Her greatest joy came from being a grandmother to 10 grandchildren, and she was overjoyed knowing her family was continuing to grow as she prepared to welcome her first great-grandchild.

Lillian had a zest for life and found happiness in cooking, gardening, listening to music, laughing with family and friends, and keeping up with the latest "farándula." She enjoyed a good pastel, guava and cheese with a cold Sprite. Celebrating holidays and memorable moments was always a fun event for her. She loved listening to music, and some of her favorites were Marc Anthony, ABBA, and Chayanne. She adored beauty products, treasured every moment with family and friends, and found pure joy in making her grandchildren laugh. She had a rare gift for truly listening, encouraging, and making everyone around her feel valued. Her most recent words of advice to her children were simple yet profound: "Always love each other very much."

Lillian was the heart of our family, a source of endless love, faith, hope, inspiration, strength, and kindness. Though she is no longer with us, we take comfort in knowing she is now our guardian angel, watching over us. Her love, wise words, and smile will live on in our hearts and memories forever.

She is survived by her children: Mardly Ruth Smith, Daniel Adrian Perez, and Yaneris Lillian Perez

Her grandchildren: Tanner Rudin Smith, Kaitlyn Raquel Smith, Mason Ronald Smith – Mardly's children Ethan Lucas Perez, Nicholas Alexander Perez, Nolan Ryder Perez, Emerson Daniel Perez – Daniel's children Dylan Karlo Zeledon, Audrius Luke Uznys, and Madison Charlotte Uznys – Yaneris children

Her siblings: Rud Adelis Soto "Reina," Haydee Soto "Taty," and Jose Angel Soto "Juni"

She was preceded in death by her brother Eliazip Soto "David," and her parents Evangelista Angel Soto and Rogelia Soto Velasquez "Yeya"

Elsie Lillian Soto, madre devota, amada abuela y querida amiga, falleció en paz el 17 de Febrero de 2025, a las 2:17 PM, en la habitación 2117 de AdventHealth Apopka, tras una valiente batalla contra la Fibrosis Pulmonar Idiopática (IPF) a la edad de 76 años.

Nacida el 29 de Enero de 1949 en Moca, Puerto Rico, Lillian creció rodeada del amor de su numerosa familia, incluidos sus dos hermanos, dos hermanas y muchos tíos, tías y primos. Criada con fuertes valores de amor y generosidad, llevó estas cualidades a la maternidad, entregando siempre su tiempo y corazón a los demás.

Después de graduarse de la escuela secundaria, Lillian siguió su pasión por ayudar a los demás y asistió al Antillean College, donde estudió enfermería. Comenzó su carrera en el Hospital Bella Vista, donde conoció y se casó con Jorge Luis Pérez. Juntos construyeron una vida en Bella Vista, fundando una de las primeras pizzerías en Mayagüez, PR. En 1976, aprovecharon la oportunidad de perseguir el sueño Americano, vendieron su negocio y se mudaron a Altamonte Springs, FL.

La dedicación de Lillian al cuidado de la salud continuó cuando se unió a Florida Hospital Orlando (ahora AdventHealth), trabajando en el Departamento de Cirugía antes de pasar a Registros Médicos/Gestión de Información de Salud, donde dedicó 45 años de servicio. Aunque ella y Jorge tomaron caminos separados, Lillian permaneció firme en su fe, enfocándose en criar a sus tres hijos con amor inquebrantable, resiliencia y guía.

Como madre, Lillian inculcó en sus hijos la confianza para alcanzar su estrella, siempre rodeándolos de amor y apoyo. Su mayor alegría fue ser abuela de 10 nietos, y estaba emocionada de saber que su familia seguiría creciendo con la llegada de su primer bisnieto.

Lillian tenía una gran pasión por la vida y encontraba felicidad en cocinar, cuidar su jardín, escuchar música, reír con su familia y amigos, y mantenerse al día con la última "farándula." Disfrutaba un buen pastel, guayaba con queso y un Sprite bien frío. Celebrar los días festivos y los momentos memorables siempre era un evento divertido para ella. Le encantaba escuchar música, y algunos de sus favoritos eran Marc Anthony, ABBA y Chayanne. Adoraba los productos de belleza, tesoraba cada momento con su familia y amigos, y encontraba pura alegría en hacer reír a sus nietos. Tenía un don especial para escuchar, alentar y hacer que todos a su alrededor se sintieran valorados. Sus últimas palabras de consejo para sus hijos fueron simples pero profundas: "Quiéranse mucho."

Lillian fue el corazón de nuestra familia, una fuente inagotable de amor, fe, esperanza, inspiración, fortaleza y bondad. Aunque ya no esté físicamente con nosotros, encontramos consuelo en saber que ahora es nuestro ángel guardián, velando por nosotros. Su amor, sus sabias palabras y su sonrisa vivirán por siempre en nuestros corazones y recuerdos.
