Elvira "Cissy" J. Cooner, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2024, at the age of 69. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering strength.

Born on June 23rd, 1954, in San Mateo County, CA and living in Arkansas and North Carolina for her childhood years, Elvira grew up with a spirit of resilience and kindness with her 6 siblings. As the second eldest child, Cissy brought harmony and laughter to the chaos, her warmth and compassion serving as a beacon of light for her siblings. Together, they navigated the trials and triumphs of childhood, finding solace and strength in each other's company. From adventurous escapades to heartfelt conversations, their shared experiences fostered a deep sense of unity and mutual support that transcended the passage of time.

In 1977, Cissy married the love of her life, Gregory Cooner. Together, they shared nearly five decades of love, laughter, and companionship. Their bond was one of unwavering devotion and mutual respect, serving as an inspiration to all who knew them.

Cissy was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Tami Goeke and Julie Cooner. She poured her heart and soul into nurturing them, imparting wisdom, and supporting them in all their endeavors. Her love knew no bounds, and her daughters were her pride and joy.

As a grandmother, Cissy found immense joy and fulfillment in her role. Serenidy Canales and Caysen Canales brought light into her life with their laughter and innocence. She cherished every moment spent with them, creating cherished memories that will live on in their hearts forever.

Throughout her illustrious career, Cissy epitomized dedication, passion, and excellence. A celebration of Cissy's life will be held on May 25th, 2024, at her memorial site at Julie's home surrounded by beautiful flowers – many which were propagated by Cissy in her own backyard.

Though she may be gone from our sight, Cissy's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her love and kindness. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
