Erline B. (McCormack) Chafin, 96, of Mount Dora and Zellwood, Florida passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on July 4, 2023 in Eustis, Florida.

Erline was born to Levi and Melissa Mathis, on September 13, 1926. She was adopted in Perry, Florida by Claude and Betty Bell of Zellwood at the age of 16 months.

A lifelong resident of Zellwood, Florida, Erline graduated from Apopka High School, where she was their first drum majorette. She then attended Florida Southern College in Lakeland Florida for two years. She married Wallace C. McCormack and had three children.

During her career she worked as a secretary for several companies including Minute Maid, Zellwood Fruit Distributors, Drum Service of Florida, and Harry-Anna Home for Crippled Children, (BPOE). She was a lifetime member of the Zellwood United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school classes for 23 years.

She was a talented floral designer, seamstress, painter, jewelry maker, and creative crafter. She loved to gift friends and family her creations. She was always willing to try something new and bury in the backyard the projects that didn't work out on the first try.

Erline was preceded in death by her husband Wallace C. McCormack.

Erline will be missed by many, including her husband Mark Chafin of Mount Dora, her daughter Mindy McCormack, daughter Julye and husband Donald Phillips of Kissimmee, FL and son Mark Leslie McCormack of de Leon Springs, FL, five grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces Patricia Erline Edge and Lida Fay Wier – her stepchildren Peggy and David Budnick of Bend, OR, Nanci and Jim Nunes of Brentwood, CA., Randy and Julie Chafin of Roseville, CA., and many other relatives and friends.

Grave side services will be held on July 14, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Evergreen Cemetery in Zellwood, Florida.

A Celebration of Life will follow at the Zellwood Methodist Church in the Fellowship Hall.
