Obituary

FISHER Eugene A.,  passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving wife and children. He was born in South Whitehall, PA.  Gene enlisted in the US Army and proudly served his country with distinction in the Korean War, receiving the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Medal, United Nations Service Medal and three bronze stars.  He is survived by his devoted wife Vonnie; daughters, Marie Zagaglia and Patricia Staricek; grandchildren, Mark Sewell, Steven Sanders and Jennifer Sanders; brother, John Fisher; and his sister Kathi Angeli.  Gene retired from Pan American Airways where he worked as an aircraft mechanic at Miami International Airport.  He later moved from Miami Springs to Port Orange.  His favorite sport was fishing.  He spent many years reeling in snook, tarpon, red fish and bone fish while fishing the waters of South and Central Florida.  He also enjoyed bowling, gardening and volunteering at the Port Orange VFW and Hospice. A Memorial Service for Gene will be held at the Hospice Center of Port Orange, 3800 Woodbriar Trail on Saturday, January 7 at 2 PM.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Marine Corps League, Det. # 658, 3788 Maple Grove Court,  Port Orange, 32129. Gene's joy of life, love of nature and his willingness to lend a helping hand will be missed by the many lives that he touched.
