Eugene Russell Owens, lovingly known as “Gene,” passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, at the age of 72. He was born on February 20, 1954.

Gene was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose honest and loving nature touched everyone who knew him. He cherished his family above all else and took great pride in the life they built together.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, especially gardening and spending quiet moments watching hummingbirds gather around the flower beds he lovingly cared for. His gentle spirit, kindness, and steady presence will be deeply missed.

Gene is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Owens; his son, James Owens; and his daughter, Gina Shelko. He also leaves behind his treasured granddaughters, Eva Wiltrout, Hailey Shelko, and Julianna Shelko; his brother, John Owens; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. He was also blessed with one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Owens and Colette Owens, and by his sisters, Brenda and Shirlyne.

Gene’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
