Born 15 May 1946 in Miami, Florida. He passed away unexpectedly on the 6th of May 2023, at age 76.
Gene was a very loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and loving son of Porter Eugene Rossner, and Evelyn Marcella "Gia" Kersey.
In High School, Gene was a star pitcher for 3 years and also quarterback his senior year. He then married his sweetheart, Sheila Mae Sherrod on 3 June 1967. Gene served his country faithfully in the United States Army for 30 years, starting in 1967. He received his helicopter repair training at Fort Eustis VA, where he then went on to serve in Vietnam, and later in South Korea. Making it his life service, he retired from the Army with high honors as Command Sergeant Major.
While mostly known for his military service, he was also committed to his marriage and family. He was never too busy to include himself in the lives of the people he loved. After retiring from the military he enjoyed grandchildren and great grandchildren. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, car racing, watching football and he was always eager to watch a rocket launch. He spent some time working at the Daytona dog track where they knew him as "Geno the Crew Manager" and "Mr.Dependable". A family man from beginning to end. He is forever in our hearts!
Gene is survived by his wife Sheila and children Michelle (Joel) Martin, Gina Martin, Eugene(Leslie) Rossner and Marcy (Michael) Rametta. His siblings: Ronnie (Sue) Rossner, Butch (Glenda) Rossner, Becky (David) Reichenberg. 17 grandchildren. 11 great grandchildren.
