Faye M. Cheeseman 1928-2021

Faye Cheeseman of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., passed away on Sept. 14, 2021, at the Halifax Health Hospice Care Center in Edgewater, Fla.

Faye leaves behind her daughter, Jule Cheeseman Emerson; brother, Matthew Madden; niece, Lisa Parrish and her husband, Russ Parrish; great-nieces Molly, Vaughan and Addie Parrish and Morgan and Katelyn Emter; and brother-in-law Gene Emter. Bearing the honorific title of "Aunt Faye", she also leaves her beloved Arlene, Lenny, Jimmy and Linda. Faye was preceded in death by her husband of more than 55 years, Donald Cheeseman; daughter, Nikki Jo Cheeseman; nephew Chris Emter and sister, Thelma Emter.

Faye was born in Duquesne, Pennsylvania in 1928. She attended Wooster College in Ohio to obtain her bachelor's degree and later earned a Master of Social Work degree. Faye was a licensed social worker and retired as supervisor of the Department of Maternity and Adoption Services for the Catholic Welfare Bureau of the Catholic Charities Diocese of Trenton, where she worked from 1972 to 1993.

Her wisdom, generosity and loving spirit defined her life. From welcoming Nikki's friends with open arms to celebrating the birth of life with adoptive and birth parents, she touched and amazed countless people during her more than 90 years on this planet.

Her guidance and countenance were sought by people near and far. However, her family was especially grateful for her stabilizing and loving presence. Words cannot adequately describe Faye's larger-than-life love and devotion to those she loved and those who were lucky enough to be called family or close friends. Her generosity, flawless style, love of traveling, and killer bridge playing instincts will be remembered. And her beautiful, loving spirit will never be forgotten.

After Don's passing, Faye left her beloved Edgewater Landing and moved to Lexington Place in NSB. There, she found a new home and countless friends—including four wonderful new besties. She was also blessed with some of the best and dearest caregivers to walk the earth.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the incomparable Halifax Health Hospice Care Center in Edgewater, Fla.
