Florence Rayner's Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the peaceful passing on August 14, 2022 of our beloved mother Florence Bessie Scace Rayner. Born in the family home, a former shaker grain house, in West Pittsfield, May 29, 1922, the last surviving child of 10 born to Charles H Scace and Jessie Parker Scace. She had just celebrated her 100th birthday with her family in Florida. Florence was married to John Ferguson Rayner on November 22, 1945 (Thanksgiving Day) until his passing in 2013. He was the love of her life. They met while working at the Pittsfield Autogage. Together they traveled, cruised, camped and enjoyed watching their grandsons sports games. Florence was a great cook and especially enjoyed baking pies. She was head cook in the Pittsfield School System at both Plunkett and Dawes schools. She also enjoyed reading biographies and watching the Red Sox. She leaves her two daughters whom she lived with in Florida, Bonnie Robert and Andre, and Susan Uliasz and Bob. Four grandchildren, Christopher Robert and spouse Johanna Wetmore, Cynthia Robert and husband Joseph, Brian Uliasz and Sarah, and Steven Uliasz and Hanni. Six great grandchildren Ryan and Dylan Pupo, Sophie and Emma Uliasz, Hailey Uliasz and Calliope Wetmore Robert. Also many nieces and nephews. Family was very important to her and she never missed a Scace Reunion. An amazing woman who lived a long eventful life and never argued with anyone. A memorial service will be held  October 15th in Pittsfield MA
