Forest Richard Oakes, 82, of Flagler Beach, Florida died Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Advent Health Hospital, Daytona Beach, Florida.

Born in Brunswick, Maryland on March 17, 1938, he was a son of the late Forest and Margaret Oakes, of Martinsburg, West Virginia.  He served in the U. S. Army for twenty years. He worked in Security after retiring in Orlando, Florida.  He was an active member of New Way Church, Palm Coast.

He is survived by his wife Joan, of Flagler Beach, two daughters, Dawn Oakes, of Flagler Beach and Holly Bostick, of Palm Bay, and a brother Ralph Oakes, of Frederick, Maryland, as well as one grandson, Noah Osborn and one granddaughter, Rebekah Osborn, both of Palm Bay, and several nieces and nephews.

The body is in the care of Baldwin Brothers Funeral and Crematorium, Ormond Beach, FL.   A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at a later time at New Way Church.  Internment will be at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, FL.
