Obituary

Frances Cuebas, age 83, of Brooklyn, NY and later resided at Port Orange, Florida, entered into rest with her husband and family by her side on March 20th, 2026.

Frances was born September 3, 1943, Bayamon, Puerto Rico and relocated to New York 1951. The daughter of the late Eduvises Hernandez and Amada Hernandez. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded by one brother, Frank DeJesus and two Sisters Felicia Amacio and Deborah Rivera.

Frances is survived by her loving husband, Melanio Cuebas-Ruiz, married 64 years. Children, Joe Cuebas, Jeanette Tavaras, Carmen Vega and Zchantell McDonnell. Son in laws, Jerry Taveras, Michael Vega and Jimmy McDonnell.

She was also a cherished Grandmother of 8 wonderful Grandchildren, Jaime, Jay, Christina, Rebecca, Joshua, Jason, Arianna, Sophia, Mikey and logan. Great Grandmother of 3 beautiful Grandchildren: August James, Owen Timothy, Savanna Lee and Sianna .

Frances Cuebas also known as Whitey went to school for nursing at Clara Baron High school Brooklyn, New York. She started off her career as an EKG Technician at Samaritan hospital and worked her way up to director of Personnel (HR) at Baptist Medical Center and retired thereafter.

She was an avid paddle ball player, enjoyed playing Tennis, biking, fundraising for cancer: running a 5K in central park. She loved taking long walks on the beach with her husband Manny. She also loved spending time with her family as she cooked her unforgettable Pernil and arroz con Gandules that was unsurpassed.

Frances touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of knowing her. Her selflessness, warmth, and generous spirit will be remembered forever. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion that lives on in all of us.

Services to honor Frances Cuebas Celebration of life will be held on Monday March 30th 2026 at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home 1:00 – 4:00 PM 620 Dunlawton Avenue, Port Orange, Florida

Burial will be held Monday April 6th, 2026, Cape Canaveral National Cemetery 1:30 PM 5525 -US1, Mims Fl. 32754
