He was preceded in death by his father, Nicodemo Belcastro, his mother, Madelyn Baldassini, his brother Nicodemo "Nicky" Belcastro, and his sister, Donna Belcastro-McDonald. Francis was a loving father to his son Serge Belcastro of Cape Coral, FL, and daughter Andrea Goderich (Luis) of Cape Coral, FL. He had one grandson, Justin Belcastro of Jensen Beach, FL. Francis is survived by his sister Kathy (Chuck) of Effingham NH, Ginger Rennie (Russell) of Whitman, MA, and Bobby Belcastro (Susan) of Weymouth MA. He is also survived by his Uncle Frank, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Francis had many nicknames, but he was referred to mostly as Fran, Franny, or Frank. He grew up on Elmer Rd in Weymouth, MA. As a kid, he played baseball as a lefty pitcher. This was a pastime that he later shared with his son and daughter. He held many jobs from working at The State House in MA as a writer for the Boston Globe to an account representative for Accardi Foods in Medford, MA. His most cherished job was working in the family business, B & D Catering in Weymouth, MA. Fran enjoyed cooking, whether it was for a room full of people at the Quincy Dinner Theater or for a table filled with family at Christmas. If he wasn't in the kitchen cooking, you could catch him on a golf course in the summer. Fran enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Patriots, and Bruins. He would want to be remembered for his zest for life. In the words of Frank Sinatra, "I did it my way." Fran certainly lived life his way.
A memorial service will be held in Weymouth,MA sometime in the spring or summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Fran's name to the National Kidney Foundation @ www.kidney.org.
