IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Francis "Bud"
Dooley
April 28, 1951 – February 24, 2025
Francis (Bud) Dooley passed away suddenly February 24, 2025. He was previously a resident of Fort Collins, CO, and recently moved to The Villages, Florida. He was born to Francis Sr and C. Florence Dooley in Rome, NY on April 28, 1951. After college, he served with the Army Rangers, Fort Lewis, WA and then as a Captain in the Army Corps of Engineers stationed in several states. After discharge, Bud worked in the oil industry traveling to offshore rigs and inland oil wells in California before transferring to refineries in CA, WY and TX. Upon retirement in Colorado he re-ignited his passion for swimming, biking and indulging his wife with hiking. The recent move to Florida found him continuing his Masters swimming and adding water volleyball and dragon boating several times weekly. In a tradition begun with their first of many homes, Bud and his wife renovated their newly purchased house, and he was especially looking forward to completing his "lanai" outdoor area. His enthusiasm for organization and precision lives on with his family. He is survived by his wife, Marsha, daughter Barbara (Matthew) Whiffen of San Diego, CA, daughter Lauren (Matthew) Brand, Olathe, KS, granddaughter Charlotte Whiffen, sister Mary (Linn) Weeda of Anchorage, AK, and sister-in-law Glenda (Dennis) Muirhead, Albuquerque, NM.
