Francis "Frank" (DP) Quirk passed away August 8th, 2026, peacefully at his home in The Villages, FL. He was born Dec 6th 1931, in New Hampton Hospital, to William and Marie (Canty) Quirk of Lawler, IA. He grew up on a farm and attended parochial school in Lawler, IA. He attended the University of Iowa and then graduated from the Iowa Teachers College (UNI) in Cedar Falls, IA in 1956. He taught high school math, history and science as well as coached basketball, football and track for 8 yrs. He met and married Dorothy Schissel, Nov. 3rd 1962. They had three children, Paula, Dan and Tom. They moved to Minnesota where he had 28-year career as a computer programmer at Unisys. While raising his family he continued his coaching career, where he coached over 30 little league teams, including volleyball, soccer, gym hockey, softball, football, baseball, basketball, hockey and track. In addition to teaching and coaching he loved his family and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye, Minnesota Vikings and Twins Fan.

He retired in 1992 and enjoyed traveling with Dorothy to warmer locations to visit many family and friends. In 2003 they moved to The Villages, FL where they spent 23 wonderful years. In retirement he enjoyed making friends, playing golf and watching his favorite sports teams. He also enjoyed happy hour and as a good Irish storyteller he would always have something interesting and funny to add to the conversation.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Schissel); children Paula, The Villages, FL, Dan (Jean Ann Dorrell) The Villages FL, and Tom (Patty Ibacache); grandson Timmy, Gig Harbor, WA; in-laws Joan Quirk, Al & Marion Schissel, Rita Kuhner, Helen and Walt Hruska, Betty Hruska, Peggy Schissel, Ken & Mary Schissel; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents William & Marie Quirk; brothers Lowell (Barb) Quirk, Tom (Louise) Quirk, Bob Quirk, Bill (Mona) Quirk; in-laws Paul and Angela Schissel, brothers-in-law, Dick Schissel, Gene Hruska, Bob Schissel; and niece Cathy Quirk.

A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at Mulberry Grove Recreation Center, 8445 Southeast 165th Mulberry Lane, The Villages, FL 32162 on: December 5th, 2026, at 10:30 am-noon.
