Francis "
Fritz" Halas
April 8, 1937 – September 2, 2020
Francis "Fritz" Halas 1937-2020 Fritz passed away peacefully at his home in Dunnellon, Florida, surrounded by love. He was preceded in death by: his first wife, Victoria Pozar Halas ("Vic"), his triplet sons Joseph, John and George, his parents Kathleen & Michael Halas, and his in-laws Jean & Jules Pozar and Mildred & Joseph Groh. He is survived by: his loving wife of 54 years Theresa (nee Groh), his four children, James, Jeffre (Helen), Jill and Jan (Eric) Stenger and his pride and joy, grandsons Lincoln, Grant and Pierce (Jill) and James Jr. (James). He also leaves behind many friends and relatives who he loved. We are sure they would all have a story to share about Fritz. Fritz was born on April 8th, 1937 in Mount Hope, NJ. He attended Morris Hills HS, where he excelled at baseball, football and track, and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Reserves upon graduation. In 1972, he moved his family from New Jersey to Florida, where he began his life-long real estate career. He was last with Coldwell-Banker Ellison Realty, where he, along with his wife Terry, worked as "Team Halas", exclusively covering their community at Spruce Creek Preserve. He could fix anything (other than a car), he always had a joke at the ready, and he was an awful singer but always had such fun singing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" at karaoke. Most of all, he loved being "Pop" and took every opportunity to brag about his grandsons. He worked hard for and loved his family, especially his partner in work, life and love, Terry. Though he will be dearly missed, we trust that we shall meet again, for, "to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure." (J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone) A Celebration of Life will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Hospice of Marion County, who gave Fritz the best of both care and compassion.
