IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frank Clarence
Fleming Sr.
April 6, 1931 – February 19, 2026
Memorial Service
Florida National Cemetery
Starts at 11:30 am (Eastern time)
Frank Clarence Fleming Sr., also known by his Islamic name Abdul Rahman, 94, of Ocala, Florida, peacefully completed his earthly journey on Thursday, February 19, 2026. A man of deep and evolving faith, he now rests in the eternal mercy of Allah (God), Subhanahu wa Ta'ala (Glorious and Exalted is He).
Frank was born on April 6, 1931, in Ocala, Florida, to Elizabeth L. Wise and Julius Caesar Fleming. He was raised in Ocala and graduated from Howard High School before relocating to Cleveland, Ohio. It was there he met the love of his life, Delores Wilkins-Wright, with whom he would build a lasting legacy.
He answered the call to serve his country, joining the Army in 1952. He served honorably in Japan and during the Korean War, earning the United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Ribbon with 2 Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal, and a Merit Unit Citation. Following his military service, he worked as a Realtor for the Interlake Realtor Company and for White Motors Company in Cleveland.
Upon returning to his roots in Ocala, Frank dedicated himself to his family as a businessman and farmer. It was also during this period that he began to nurture the spiritual quest that would define his life. As a young man in Cleveland, he was a member of the Nation of Islam, an experience that first ignited his connection to the faith. After moving back to Florida, with no mosque in the immediate area, he grounded his family in the local community at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon.
His search for spiritual fulfillment continued, and about 26 years ago, he found his spiritual home in Sunni Islam. He remained a dedicated and devout Muslim for the rest of his life, his faith a source of strength, peace, and guidance.
Beyond his spiritual life, Frank was a man of many talents and passions. He found joy in the outdoors, whether camping or working the land on his farm. A true musician at heart, he loved sharing his gifts, playing the flute, trumpet, and piano for the enjoyment of family, friends, and various audiences throughout the years. His commitment to service extended into the community through his involvement with the American Legion Post 284 in Belleview, Florida, and as a lifetime member of Post 12204. He and his beloved wife Delores were dedicated residents of the Veterans Village in Ft. McCoy since 2010, where they found fellowship and became cherished members of that community.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of many years, Delores Wilkins-Wright Fleming, aka Aisha Rahman (2024); his son, Alvin C. Fleming (2000); his daughter, Brenda Sykes (2026); and his siblings, Myrtle Canion, Rolene Croskey, and David Fleming. He leaves behind a rich and beautiful legacy in his children: Frank Fleming Jr. of Ocala, FL; Allene Fleming of Columbia, SC; Patricia (Reginald) Coffey of Stafford, VA; Monica Fleming-Hampton(Antwayne) of Columbia, SC; Joy (Allen) Bright of Dacula, GA; David Fleming of Ocala, FL; and Omar Fleming of Dallas, TX. His memory will also be cherished by his grandchildren: Jamilla Fleming, Alvin Fleming Jr., Alana (Jason) Westley, Christopher Fleming (Crystal), Reginald (Cassia) Coffey II, Courtney Coffey, Stacey (Ray) Hampton Jr., and Sterling Hampton; along with a host of loving great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors to celebrate Mr. Fleming's life will be held on March 20, 2026, at 11:30 AM EST at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513. Flowers and condolences may be sent to the homestead, 1490 SW 107th Place, Ocala, Florida, prior to the service date. May Allah grant him Jannah (Paradise) and his family patience during this time.
