Stolmar
Jan 22, 1933 — Sep 13, 2026
Frank Stolmar, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, departed this world peacefully at his home on September 13, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on January 22, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan, Frank was the cherished son of Frank Joseph Stolmar and Anna Sabo, who immigrated from Hungary in search of a better life for their family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Stolmar Sr. and Anna Sabo, brother, Gary Stolmar, sisters, Gloria Sweeney and Dorothy Wood, granddaugther, Sophia Stolmar, and former spouse, Susan Lau.
Frank's journey through life was marked by his enduring contributions to his family, his community, and his profession. He is survived by his children, Greg (Diane) Stolmar, Ginger Stolmar, Thomas Stolmar, granddaughter, Sonja Stolmar, former spouse, Judy McNamara, step-daughters, Nina and Lisa Pappas, and long time, dear friend, William Coseo. Through these relationships, Frank's spirit and kindness continue to resonate.
A man of remarkable talent and vision, Frank dedicated 30 years of his career to Ford Motor Company as a body engineer, project lead, and supervisor. He took immense pride in his work, particularly in his contributions to the iconic design of the Ford Mustang, a testament to his creativity and passion for innovation.
Frank's life was richly colored by his hobbies and interests, which showcased his love for both craftsmanship and adventure. An avid designer, he transformed his home on Hickory Island with hand-built custom additions. He found joy in boating on the Great Lakes and vacationing with his family on the Atlantic Ocean, pursuits that brought him closer to the natural world he so admired. His love for collecting eclectic art objects, vintage cars, and antiques reflected his appreciation for history and the unique stories that objects tell.
Those who knew Frank will remember him as the life of any gathering, his humor, candor and warmth lighting up every room he entered. His ability to connect with others and spread joy was a gift he shared freely with all who were fortunate to know him.
His family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Tidewell Hospice of Sarasota, whose compassionate care allowed Frank to spend his final moments in peace and comfort at home.
Frank Stolmar's life was a tapestry of rich experiences and a life well lived. He will be dearly missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
