Franklin Chester
Diekman
February 23, 1920 – November 14, 2020
Franklin Chester Diekman passed away on November 14, 2020, he was 100 years old. Mr. Diekman was predeceased by his wife Phyllis Jean (Fike) Diekman, and his son Clinton Earl Diekman. Mr. Diekman fought in World War II as a Captain of a battery of 155 mm Howitzers in the 69 th field artillery division in the western European theater of battle. Captain Diekman won distinction for valor in both Belgium and Germany. His selfless acts were recognized with a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart, and the Soldier's Medal for his acts in combat. When he returned home after the war Mr. Diekman worked at and eventually owned a business in Hammond, Indiana. He retired from that business in 1988 and moved to Arizona in 2003. He later moved to Florida to be close to his family. He is survived by his son Franklin Clifford Diekman, his daughters-in-law, Stella Diekman, and Jennifer Diekman, five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. All cash donations should be directed to the American Cancer Society in the name of Clinton Earl Diekman.
