Obituary

Fred C. Pusterla, 78, of The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025.

Born on May 8, 1947, in Jersey City, NJ, Fred was the son of Charles and Ann Pusterla. He graduated from Northern Valley Regional High School in Old Tappan, NJ, and went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was also stationed in Scotland aboard the U.S.S. Simon Lake. Following his military service, Fred attended The School of Visual Arts in New York City, where he refined his talent and passion for art.

A gifted artist, Fred enjoyed a successful career as a commercial illustrator, designer, and art director, contributing to the advertising and publishing industries in New York City, Virginia, and Long Island. His artwork often depicted his favorite subjects—birds, architecture, everyday life, and sports cars.

In addition to his artistic talents, Fred had a lifelong passion for automobiles. He worked at several dealerships on Long Island and spent countless hours restoring and perfecting his dream cars, most recently his beloved GT Coyote Mustang. He was also an active member of The Villages Mustang Club.

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Donna, and his children: Steven (Taylor), Carrie (Chris), Melissa (Daniel), Michael (Mary), and Chelsea. He was a devoted grandfather to Austin, Alexa, Noah, Anna, and Leo, and great-grandfather to Grady and Vincenza. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas (Carolyn). Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ann Pusterla.

Interment will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Services will be held privately for immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Fred's memory to the North Shore Animal League or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
