Obituary

Fred Lyndon Stone passed away at The Mayflower Retirement Center on January 11, 2026. Fred moved to Winter Park Florida in 2008 after serving in the position of vice-president of Human Resources at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, Florida from which he retired after 27 years.

Mr. Stone was born in High Point North Carolina on March 30,1940. He graduated from High Point Central High School in 1959, and High Point University in1963 with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology. He served as a field epidemiologist for the United States Public Health Service from 1963-1966. He was corporate manager of training for Manhattan Industries for five years. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Winter Park for many years. He was a member of The Florida Trust For Historic Preservation. He participated in the establishment of the Citrus County Historical Museum, which was a community effort involving the preservation and restoration of the old Ciuus County Courthouse. Mr. Stone was the author of A HERITAGE OF HEALING, a history of Citrus Memorial Hospital and medical doctors in Citrus County.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles (Charlie) E. and Minnie Killingsworth Stone, one infant brother, Charles E. Stone Jr. He is survived by his sister Sondra S. Maness, nephew Jeffrey Maness, and niece Shelia M. Brumley (Steven) three great nieces and one great nephew from Asheboro, NC.

A celebration of Fred's life will be held on February 24, 2026, 11am at All Saints Episcopal Church in Winter Park Florida, 338 E. Lyman Ave. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to All Saints Church or Anchor House Ministries at www.anchorhouse.org on K-ville Avenue, Auburmdale, FL 33823.
