Frederick
Cornetta
Nov 1, 1947 — Sep 17, 2026
Apopka, FL
Frederick J. Cornetta of Apopka, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026, at AdventHealth Hospice Center in Altamonte Springs, following a lengthy illness of multiple sclerosis. He was 78.
Born on November 1, 1947, Fred was raised in Revere and remained deeply connected to his Massachusetts roots throughout his life. Although he spent the final chapter of his life in Florida, his heart remained in Boston- he loved reminiscing about his upbringing there, telling stories about the people, places, and memories that shaped his life. He enjoyed writing short stories, traveling, and was an avid Boston sports fan. Those who knew him will remember not only his wit and personality, but his warmth and strength.
Music was at the center of Fred’s life. For nearly 40 years, he was a beloved piano teacher in the Greater Boston area, sharing not only his knowledge and talent, but his genuine love of music with generations of students. He had a particular appreciation for classical and jazz music, and teaching was a way of connecting with people and sharing something he loved.
Frederick was the beloved son of the late Benjamin and Evelyn Cornetta. He is survived by his siblings, Diane MacDonald of Deltona, Florida, and Karen Conrad of Chelsea, Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Cornetta of Lynn, Massachusetts.
Fred leaves behind his daughter, Sarah Cornetta of Littleton, Massachusetts, and his devoted partner, Laura Rodriguez of Apopka, Florida. Laura was a constant source of love, comfort, and companionship throughout his final years, and she was with him when he passed, surrounded by love.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in Fred’s memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
