Jr
August 1, 1946 – December 26, 2019
Frederick D Roth Jr. of Port Orange, Florida, formerly of Wheeling, WV, passed away on December 26th, 2019 at the age of 73. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Frederick D. Roth Sr. and Mary Shaunghnessy Roth, and most recently by his brother, Jack Roth. Fred was an avid WVU sports fan. He and his brother attended over 40 years of WVU games with season tickets. Fred also enjoyed coaching basketball; he coached both boys' and girls' basketball at Corpus Christi Grade School. Fred graduated from WVU Law School in 1971. He worked for S.R. Snodgrass CPA firm as a tax attorney and CPA for 42 years. He also taught classes at Wheeling Jesuit University and belonged to St. Michael's Parish. This Christmas, Fred had the enjoyment of all his family being with him in the hospital. He laughed, told stories, and had a beautiful day. Fred would often be heard quoting the advice, "Show love and be kind," which is how he lived his life. Fred is survived by Shirley, his wife of 45 years; their children: Derrick Roth and wife, Ashley, of Roanoke, VA, Frederick Daniel Roth III and wife Michelle, of Los Angeles, CA, and Carrie Bauer and husband Mark, of Port Orange, FL; grandchildren Brady Bower, Christian Johnson, and Kaitlyn and Emily Roth; and best friend since childhood Bob Adelson and his wife Deena. A service will be held on January 11, 2020 at 11:00am, Daytona Beach Drive In Church, 3140 South Atlantic Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida. A procession will follow to Ponce Inlet for scattering of ashes and a luncheon to follow.
