IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frederick
Steinmeier
August 18, 1939 – May 5, 2025
Frederick (Fred, Skip) Steinmeier passed away May 5, 2025, 75 days after his wife and greatest love Carol O' Neil Steinmeier. He was born on August 18, 1939, to Francis Neely (Buster) and Thelma L. Steinmeier in Orlando, Florida. He graduated from Edgewater High School. He was a volunteer at the Lockhart Fire department. He loved fishing in the lake he grew up on.
He had a good career as an Emergency Medical Technician in Crestview and Baker Fire Districts. After retiring he continued volunteer work at the Fire Department for many years. He taught Basic Life Support and enjoyed this as he felt it allowed people to learn how to help others. He touched many lives in his career.
His favorite past time after retirement was supporting the education system of Florida through their Florida Lottery System, He would spend hours at the Ritz convenience store by his home in Baker doing scratch off tickets. He found comradery there with the employees that knew him by name.
He relocated to Orlando in July of 2024, living with his daughter Sydney and her husband Dennis. In this home he performed one more heroic act by waking them up in the morning of February 25, 2025, allowing the three of them to escape the burning home that was a total loss. An act that will forever be in our hearts.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol O'Neil Steinmeier. His parents Francis (Buster) & Thelma Steinmeier, and his granddaughter Emily Bishop Steinmeier "Wittle".
He is survived by his sister ViraJean (Bill) Bennett, daughters Stacey (Curtis) May, Sheryl (Laird) Atkins, Sydney (Dennis) Moran. His son Frederick Len Steinmeier and his niece Jeannie Holmes. He had eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
