Frederick R. Zeiss, 87, of Inverness, passed peacefully, on December 14, 2023.

He was born in New York City on April 15, 1936, to Frederick and Ruth Zeiss. After graduating high school, He joined the Navy and served for 5 years, during which he served almost 3 years overseas on the USS Gregory DD-802. He graduated from University of Florida with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He married Lucille Johnson, a single parent of 3, in 1962.

He worked in the military defense and aerospace industry on the guidance system for the space shuttle and other aircraft, SR-71 (YF-12 Blackbird) and in field support, training engineers on guidance systems, and traveling to different locations around the world. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and amazing role-model to his children and their friends, spending time camping, boating, and building their character.

Frederick is survived by his wife, Lucille; his 3 children, Pamela Sellman, Daryl Zeiss, and Angela Morton; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Ruth Zeiss.

Funeral arrangements are scheduled for Friday, December 29, 2023, at 11:00 am at Baldwin Brothers, 11250 SW 93rd Ct Rd, Suite 300, Ocala, FL 34481. Viewing begins at 10:30 am.
