Garland Huffman of Fort McCoy, Florida, passed away on September 28th at 9:40 pm surrounded by the love of his family. Born July 18, 1941, in Botetourt County, Virginia, Garland lived a full life marked by hard work, service, family, friendship, and a personality that will not soon be forgotten.

Garland proudly served his country in the United States Navy, serving in the Fifth Naval District, and received the Antarctica Service Medal in recognition of his service.

Throughout his working years, Garland was employed by Fruehauf and Ashley’s Trailer & Equipment. He was also a proud member of Mandarin Moose Lodge #42, where he served two terms as Governor. His involvement with the Moose Lodge reflected his enjoyment of friendship, fellowship, and being part of his community.

Garland was a man with a big personality and an even bigger love of life. Those who knew him will remember the character he was, the stories he shared, and the lasting impression he made on the people around him. Above all, Garland’s family was an important part of his life, and his memory will live on through the many generations who loved him.

Garland was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and May Huffman; his first wife, Nellie Faye Huffman; and his brother, Bobby Huffman.

He is survived by his wife, Roxanne Huffman; his sister, Shirley Shaver of Salem, Virginia; and his children, Melissa Young (Terry), Kristi Martin (Charles), Mischelle Register (Thomas), Wendy Mobley (Victoria), Russell Mobley (Verlina), and Kevin Huffman.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brooke Harris, Brittany Bennett, Brandon White, Zachary East, Chaz Martin, Karissa Martin, Nolan Mobley, Luke Mobley, Olivia Huffman, and Clayton Huffman, as well as several great-grandchildren who will carry his memory forward.

The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank-you to Wendy and Victoria Mobley for going above and beyond in caring for their father, Garland. The family also wishes to express their gratitude to Garland’s special friends and neighbors, Howard and Jane Miller and Jerry Jacobs, for their kindness, friendship, and selfless care.

Garland’s life was one of service, hard work, family, friendship, and plenty of personality. While his presence will be deeply missed, the memories, stories, laughter, and love he leaves behind will remain with his family and friends for years to come.
